This Sunday is Easter Sunday (April 5, 2026). In addition to our Cantonese, English, and Mandarin, Cantonese Sunday worship services, Crosspoint San Leandro will host a family Easter egg hunt from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Over 50 children have already signed up, but there are still spots available. Click here to register.
The Easter egg hunt is a tradition that originated among German Christians in the 17th century. Since the sermon series “On Earth as It Is in Heaven” will conclude with the topic on the treasures in the Kingdom of Heaven, this year’s egg hunt holds special significance. Jesus said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field” (Matthew 17:44). In the eyes of our Heavenly Father, children are certainly among these hidden treasures, for Jesus said that to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, one must “become like a little child” (Matthew 18:3). Even the things hidden among the wise and intelligent will be revealed to little children (Matthew 11:25)!
There will be a baptismal service at Crosspoint San Leandro this Easter Sunday at 2:30 PM. Eleven brothers and sisters will be baptized—seven from San Leandro and four from Milpitas. Since the Baptist tradition insists on believer baptism, none of them are “infants.” In fact, two of the brothers and sisters being baptized are in their nineties and will receive a prayer of blessing instead of immersion in water. But regardless of age or method of baptism, all 11 are treasures in heaven (Luke 15:7, 10)!
Good Friday’s Via Dolorosa was well received by many participants. We would like to express our appreciation to the volunteer coworkers. Although we borrowed the traditional name “Via Dolorosa” and incorporated visual imagery of Christ’s suffering to create a meditative prayer walk, our primary goal was to strengthen participants’ biblical knowledge. From an evangelical perspective rooted in the Reformation tradition, we have little interest in legends that stir emotional responses but are, in fact, purely fictional. Therefore, on a day like Good Friday, it is especially important to distinguish between legend and the historical truths found in the Bible!
If you have missed Via Dolorosa on Good Friday, please find time to review some of the video clips exhibited. The English clips can be found here.
As a memento of Via Dolorosa and to mark the first anniversary of moving to this church building in San Leandro, we have commemorative cups available. If you did not receive one on Good Friday evening, please pick one up at the reception desk this Easter Sunday. However, quantities are limited. They will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Repeating other previously announced items:
- Because of the English worship service, both the youths and the children will not join the Cantonese worship service. The youths will join the English worship service. Children will have children’s worship time in their classrooms. The children’s check-in kiosk is located at the entrance of the multifunction hall. After checking their children in, parents should take their children directly to the children’s classrooms. The Cantonese worship service will no longer provide English interpretation by headsets. English-listening congregants are encouraged to join the English worship service. The folding partition walls in the multifunction hall will close from 9:20AM through the end of the English worship service. Congregants arriving late for the Cantonese worship service should use the worship center entrance. GEM time will continue to be held at the multifunction hall after the Cantonese and the English worship service.
