Rebuilding our relationship with the Creator

  1. Why do we humans need to have a relationship with God?

The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.  And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2: 15-17) ESV

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.  Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief. (Proverbs 14: 12-13) ESV

  1. Can we restore our relationship with our Creator?

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14: 6) ESV

Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. (Ephesians 4: 17-18) ESV

  1. We see mercy in the actions of our Creator

Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. (Genesis 3: 22-23) ESV

  1. The Creator wants to rebuild relationship with man because of love

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3: 23) ESV

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. (1 John 4: 9) ESV

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5: 18) ESV

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2: 10) ESV

Questions for reflection and discussion:

  1. Why do we humans need to have a relationship with God?
  2. What are the difficulties we face in establishing a relationship with God?
  3. How do we know that God wants to restore His relationship with us?
  4. How should we live after we have restored our relationship with God?

  1. 创造主愿与人重建关系是因为爱

因为人人都犯了罪，亏缺了神的荣耀。（罗马书 3: 23）新译

一切都是出于神；他借着基督使我们与他和好，又将劝人与他和好的职分赐给我们。（歌林多后书 5: 18）和合

10 我们是神的创作，是为了美善的工作在基督耶稣里被造成的；神早已预备好了美善工作，要我们在其中行事。（以弗所书 2:10）中文标准
